Kenilworth Union Church – Puerto Rico: June 11 – June 18

Friday June 10, 2011
Tyrone, Emily, Luke, Joey & Chris along with all the Cerro Gordo community have been preparing for Kenilworth’s arrival in country tomorrow.  They even put together a little film to show you the extreme building that will take place within the community.  They are very excited to meet the group Saturday afternoon and show them around Old San Juan and assist them in moving in to their week long accommodations right across from the beautiful Cerro Gordo beach!

Update #1
:  Sunday June 12, 2011

Today was a day for catching on rest, team building and fun in the sun. We started with a great breakfast thanks to Tony and Carmen and then broke into groups to conduct our name games and a hilarious relay race. We spent the rest of the day on the beautiful beach Cerro Gordo enjoying the water, the palms trees and the sand. Later on in the night we were able to meet members of the community whose homes we would be working on this week as they expressed their appreciation and excitement to work with us all week. Then off to sleep to get ready for a big first day of work tomorrow!

Update #2: KUC- DAY 3 BUILD DAY 1 – A HUGE SUCCESS
BIG HEAT, BRIGHT SUN AND BOLD BODIES AND SOULS

We poured an entire roof and retention wall with the community and prepared the rebar on another roof four concrete tomorrow.  We met with families, children and new friends within the community, drank a lot of water, had a delicious lunch and celebrated with a swim before sunset at Cerro Gordo beach.  Global Works leaders joined us for our evening devotions after dinner, cannot wait until tomorrow!
