Global Works added a new tab, Trip Journals, to our blog!  With 21 Summer Service Adventure trips out in the field, we needed a method to get information and updates to parents, friends and families!  We are updating our trip journals nearly every day with new stories and photos directly from leaders and participants in the field.

Check out our Trip Journals where we will continue to feature our programs in the field.

Global Works Student Pays it Forward

Global Works alumni student, Alli Travis from 2009 Costa Rica Program, continues her service work after her summer program last year: “I just wanted to tell you about something I have chosen to do in order to give back to my community.  While we were in our home stay there was a Peace Corps volunteer named Clarissa Ramirez living with a family in the same community as us.  When we were departing from our homestay she informed us that the community had no books and that she is trying to start a library.  A few weeks after I got home I found out that she had opened a library in the nutrition center and was looking for people to donate books.  I have recently been in touch with a few publishing companies who sent some books down to Clarissa in Santa Cruz.  I also worked very closely with someone at Barnes and Nobles and she was able to get me a donation of approximately 150 -200 books to send to my community.  I have all different types of books, from kids to adult books, cook books, travel books, educational books and they are all in Spanish some are even in Spanish and English. Spence School Returns – Martinique

We left off with our last posting when the Spence School Students had just arrived in Martinique (Bonjour from Martinique).  After the group became acquainted with the kind people and culture of the town through middle and high language exchanges, playing games, eating incredible local foods, art and dancing – the group enjoyed a ton of beach time in the St. Anne region!
