A glimpse from China… by Abby Miller
Hi I’m Abby Miller, a fresh returnee from the Global Works China trip! I’m 17 years old and will be a senior at Fairview High School next year. I’m currently working in the Global Works office and would like to share my experience in China with you! So many moments on this trip stick out in my mind as things I will never forget, but the most meaningful experience to me was the time we spent at the Starfish Orphanage.
We walked through the doors, dropped our backpacks, and immediately jumped into playtime with our new found two-year-old friends. Within minutes Ryan, a year and a half old boy with squeaky flip flops and a new found talent for walking, had snatched up the aviators from the top of my head and tried to put them on. It might have been the cutest thing I’d ever seen. Soon, we were walking around the play area, his whole hand gripped tight around my index finger, wobbling through a sea of volunteers, toys, and smiling kids. (more…)
