Dayla Arias-Fernanez – Leader

University of Costa Rica – B.A. Cultural Anthropology & Archaeology
Dayla is a native Costa Rican with a free spirit ever since she was a little child and she realized that she wanted to travel and explore new places.  It wasn’t until she finished her BA in Anthropology that she was able see other countries and learn from other cultures. Besides her native country she has lived in the USA, Mexico, and Ecuador and backpacked in among other places Central & South America, Asia, and Europe.  In the last year she has been working as a leader for volunteer and educational projects and as a student affairs manager with young people of different nationalities.

Francisco Di Pio – Leader

University of Connecticut, B.A. Pychology
A native of Argentina has been working in youth sports and education for over ten years.  Holding a National Soccer Coaching License he has had four successful seasons as head coach with his high school freshman team.  Francisco holds a degree in Psychology from the University of CT and is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician.  Aided by his total fluency in Spanish and English he has traveled extensively both abroad and nationally. Francisco is also an avid outdoor enthusiast he enjoys canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, and most of all rock and mountain climbing.  He is presently pursuing his credentials as a rock climbing guide and leader.  He is extremely excited for his first trip with Global Works and knows he will be able to put his multiple skills to use.

Emily Havens – Leader

The Colorado College, B.A. Environmental Anthropology
A joyful explorer of international cities and high alpine peaks alike, Emily is committed to adventure and creating community worldwide. She has worked with youth teaching Environmental Education in Ecuador, helped create a community based sustainable farming program in Belize, promoted pediatric AIDs education in Kenya, and studied globalization and its resistance in Bolivia and Peru. Emily is the most comfortable in the mountains of Colorado where she has been working as a wilderness instructor for youth, facilitating growth and self discovery through challenge and adventure! In her free time, Emily loves doing yoga, attempting to play her Ukelele, and baking bread. Em can ́t wait to meet up with the Global Works Spain team in June.

Erin McMorrow – Leader

In her second year of teaching high school math Erin is  lovin’ life!  She loves to spend time with teenagers helping them learn and experience new things.  She spends her free time learning to ski swimming at the pool and hanging out with awesome people.  Always ready for a fun time she enjoys spontaneous dance parties and singing loud to the radio!  A die hard Green Bay Packers fan she is happy to say her year is going well to say the least!  After an awesome trip to Spain last year she is looking forward to a just as awesome month in COSTA RICA!

Layton Williams – Leader

University of Georgia, B.A. English Literature, Minor Theatre
Layton grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and is a graduate of the University of Georgia where she majored in English and minored in Theatre. She now lives in Austin, TX where she has spent the past 3 years working for various non- profits that provide after school programming and educational enrichment for middle school and high school students. She has been traveling the globe and doing international service work during her summers since she was 13 and has visited Mexico, Honduras, Brazil, Guatemala, Belize, Canada and the British Isles. She will be attending seminary this fall to get her Masters in Divinity and has a dream of one day starting a school that emphasizes service learning and cultural exposure. She is excited to join the Global Works team and spend some time exploring and learning in Panama alongside some awesome students.
