Don’t be surprised if one day soon your teacher pulls out iPods and tells your class to start Tweeting! That’s just what Global Works leader Noah Geisel’s class does every day, with great results. Check out this news story on CBS4: East High Spanish Students Learn With Twitter

Welcome Home San Francisco Day School
San Francisco Day School had a busy week in Puerto Rico!
Over this past week, students had an opportunity to participate in service projects, have adventures in both the rainforest and beach, and work with locals to learn more about another culture. Upon the group’s arrival, they met with the families they would be helping and saw the work past Global Works groups have accomplished. They left the sites ready to work and looking forward to the projects ahead! But don’t think the group had all work and no play–they also had an opportunity to hang out at the beautiful beach in Patillas, swimming, playing and tomando el sol (enjoying the sun). (more…)

Haiti Relife Update!
We are writing to update participants who enrolled on a Global Works program during our Haiti relief fundraising which occurred in the final two weeks of January. Global Works matched $50 for each enrollee during this period for a total of $2000. While we originally considered the Red Cross, we have decided to make this donation directly to the Lambi Fund of Haiti. The Lambi Fund, founded jointly in 1994 by Haitians and Americans, is a unique grassroots organization whose mission is to assist the popular, democratic movement in Haiti. Its goal is to help strengthen civil society in Haiti as a necessary foundation for democracy and development. We have chosen this organization because they have a long term commitment to Haiti and will be assisting the rebuilding effort long after the first responders have departed. For more information, you can visit their website here: LAMBI FUND. (more…)
